OSRAM SYLVANIA RLC22 Wins Next Generation Luminaires Award
New LED Luminaires Awarded Prestigious Solid-State Lighting Design Award

Las Vegas and Danvers, Mass. (May 16, 2012) – North American lighting leader OSRAM SYLVANIA is proud to announce the RLC22 – a new 2x2 luminaire for office, retail, education and healthcare environments – is a recipient of a Next Generation Luminaires (NGL) Solid-State Lighting Design Competition award sponsored by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES), the International Association of Lighting Designers (ILAD) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

The Next Generation Luminaires Solid-State Lighting Design Competition was created to recognize and promote excellence in the design of energy-efficient LED commercial luminaires. As one of the most rigorous solid-state lighting awards to win, NGL recognized products have to measure up on many fronts including lighting quality and consistency, glare control, and application suitability, not just energy efficiency. The RLC22 features a high performance of over 85 lumens per watt and a unique styling in the form of a uniformly diffuse, round aperture within a form factor compatible with standard 2x2 grid ceilings. In addition to its efficacy and color consistency, its smooth light distribution with just the right amount of high angle lumens, offers a pleasing aesthetic alternative standard recessed square fluorescent and LED troffers.

“We are honored to win such a prestigious award for one of our newest products designed for commercial lighting applications,” said Dwight Kitchen, vice president of product portfolio management, luminaires, OSRAM SYLVANIA. “This award energizes us to continue our company’s dedication to the advancement of solid-state lighting innovation.”

The RLC22 luminaire’s diffuser is slightly recessed, producing a comfortable, non-glaring light, while delivering the right amount of illumination on work surfaces and walls. The innovative light engine is based on the OSRAM SYLVANIA Distributed Array LED platform, delivering excellent color consistency with a life rating @ 50,000 hours (L85). The long luminaire life and highly efficient LEDs provide the potential for energy savings and reduced maintenance costs when compared with comparable fluorescent systems. A 0-10V dimmable power supply comes standard with the RLC22 luminaire allowing for a continuous dimming range from 100-10%.
