OSRAM SYLVANIA Introduces ELOGIC™ Wireless Dimming Technology

Leveraging Innovative Radio Wave Technology, the Solutions Require No Batteries or Wires

Philadelphia and Danvers, Mass. (May 17, 2011) – Known for bringing to market innovative and industry leading lighting technology and solutions, OSRAM SYLVANIA will continue to demonstrate its advancements in the line of ELOGIC™ Lighting Controls at LIGHTFAIR International (LFI) this week with the addition of wireless dimming control technology. The new solution includes dimmable fluorescent ballast controls as well as dimmable LED power supply controls. The ELOGIC family of controls provides added energy savings, preference control and optimization for lighting systems across a variety of applications including office, hospitality, commercial and residential.

This innovative wireless dimmer technology from OSRAM SYLVANIA stems from the company’s work with the EnOcean Alliance, a consortium of companies working to standardize and internationalize energy harvesting wireless technology for green intelligent buildings. Quickly becoming the industry standard for both new and retrofit green intelligent buildings, EnOcean’s miniaturized energy harvesting modules feature ultra low power radio technology that is highly attractive to OEMs developing wireless sensors and switches used to improve the energy efficiency of commercial facilities significantly.

With the ELOGIC family, OSRAM SYLVANIA is leveraging lighting controls to increase flexibility in lighting systems and provide simple installation and increased energy efficiency. Since no extra wiring is necessary, designers, contractors and architects save both time and money installing wireless dimming technology while simultaneously eliminating the need for environmentally unfriendly batteries. With self-powering energy harvesting sensors and switches, the historic reliance on battery powered systems can be eliminated altogether and the dimming functionality of these controls can also help reduce overall energy consumption.

The dimmable fluorescent ballast and LED power supply controls can both be addressed using OSRAM SYLVANIA’s wireless and battery-free single and dual rocker switches that have both manual ON/OFF switches as well as automatic OFF functionality. Once installed, their wireless nature affords increased flexibility for reconfiguration, as switches may be relocated without rerouting any wiring.

SYLVANIA Light Management Systems and ELOGIC Lighting Controls help to manage light levels and provide energy and cost savings for lighting systems using LED, HID, fluorescent or any other lighting technology. Further, SYLVANIA Light Management Systems provide preference control and flexibility to optimize lighting systems to their fullest potential.
