QUICKTRONIC® QTO High Efficiency Metal Halide Dimming Ballasts from OSRAM SYLVANIA Wins Innovation Award at LIGHTFAIR 2011

Leading Low-frequency Electronic Dimming Ballasts Recognized by Industry Peers for Long Lamp Life and Improved Energy Savings

Philadelphia and Danvers, Mass. (May 17, 2011) – OSRAM SYLVANIA, a North American lighting leader, today announced that the QUICKTRONIC® QTO High-Efficiency line of metal halide dimming ballasts, was honored with a Best of Category award in the Ballasts, Transformers and Drivers category of the Innovation Awards Program at LIGHTFAIR INTERNATIONAL 2011. Marking OSRAM SYLVANIA’s sixth consecutive LIGHTFAIR Innovation Award, the recognition acknowledges the company’s commitment to leading the market in the development and delivery of cutting edge lighting technologies.

The QUICKTRONIC QTO High-Efficiency line of metal halide dimming ballasts is an industry first, offering incredible versatility for highly efficient and controllable street and area lighting applications. Along with improved energy efficiency, the QUICKTRONIC QTO line of electronic ballasts demonstrates improved correlated color temperature (CCT) and color rendering index (CRI) over the life of the lamp. Even further energy savings are possible with three integral dimming features: 0-10V dimming, step dimming from 100 to 50 percent power and innovative AstroDim.

The system is suitable for use with lamp types from 100W to 200W, is lead-free and RoHS compliant, and is the industry’s only UL Type II wet location electronic dimming HID ballasts to meet the IEEE/ANSI C62.41 Category C criteria, eliminating the need for additional surge protection.

“At OSRAM SYLVANIA, we take great pride in the development of energy efficient traditional lighting products like the QUICKTRONIC QTO electronic dimming ballast, continuing to support the viability of these technologies in today’s market,” said Paula Ziegenbein, Strategic Marketing Manager, OSRAM SYLVANIA. “For the past six years, LIGHTFAIR INTERNATIONAL has recognized our advancements in traditional lighting systems, and our breakthrough HID systems have been honored twice in the past three years.”

The LIGHTFAIR Innovation Awards are one of the highest industry honors and are judged by an independent panel of renowned lighting professionals, recognizing excellence in new lighting products and technology introduced in the past twelve months.
