Demand Response Made Easy

Philadelphia and Danvers, Mass. (May 17, 2011) – A proven market leader in flexible and efficient lighting systems, OSRAM SYLVANIA continues to advance the lighting controls marketplace by introducing the QUICKTRONIC PowerSHED Dimming Relay for dimming applications.

Because the PowerSHED family of components use the same power line carrier technology for communication, the innovative new PowerSHED Relay allows users of the existing PowerSHED ballasts and injectors to add new types of loads to their demand response programs. This flexible relay opens its contacts when the PowerSHED Injector is activated at the lighting panel, turning off whatever load it is controlling. By using this functionality, enhanced load shed strategies can be economically employed with no new wiring. This increases flexibility, and opens great potential energy savings even beyond lighting systems.

The RoHS compliant PowerSHED Relay is ideal for energy-efficient lighting systems in new construction projects, but its quick and easy installation also makes it well suited for commercial, retail and hospitality applications where there is interest in energy saving upgrades or participating in load shed programs. The PowerSHED Relay requires no new wiring, and the unit may be easily integrated into new luminaire designs. . Users can employ the relay to turn a fixture off, switch one ballast off within a multi-ballast fixture, or switch the SYLVANIA QUICKTRONIC QUICKSTEP® step-dimming ballast to save 50 percent power.
