OSRAM SYLVANIA Introduces QUICKTRONIC® QTO High Efficiency High Intensity Discharge Dimming Ballast

Industry Leading Low-Frequency Electronic Dimming Ballasts Increase Energy Savings

Philadelphia and Danvers, Mass. (May 17, 2011) – Known for market leadership with industry leading sustainable lighting solutions, OSRAM SYLVANIA announces the QUICKTRONIC® QTO High-Efficiency family of metal halide dimming ballasts. These RoHS compliant electronic ballasts offer incredible versatility for highly efficient and controllable outdoor lighting as they are suitable for use with METALARC® POWERBALL Ceramic metal halide, METALARC quartz metal halide and LUMALUX® high pressure sodium lamp types from 100W to 200W. The QUICKTRONIC QTO is also the industry’s first ULType II wet location Listed, electronic dimming HID ballasts meeting the line transient protection requirements of IEEE/ANSI C62.41 Category C, which eliminates the need for additional surge protection.

When paired with the QUICKTRONIC QTO family of electronic ballasts, new METALARC POWERBALL Ceramic 100W ET23.5, 150W ET23.5 and 200W ET18 metal halide lamps obtain energy efficiency gains as well as the flexibility of the ballast’s dimming functionality. These lamps have an average rated life of 24,000 hours, 80 percent mean lumens, excellent color stability and high CRI in the mid 90s. These lamp and electronic ballast systems reduces energy costs by up to 25 percent when compared with standard quartz metal halide and magnetic ballasts. Even further energy savings are possible with the ballast’s three dimming features: 0-10V dimming, step dimming from 100 to 50 percent power and an innovative feature called Astrodim. Astrodim enables the ballast to learn the operating cycle of the luminaire system and dim over an application defined time period without the need for additional control wires. When QUICKTRONIC QTO ballasts and SYLVANIA high intensity discharge lamps are specified together, the system is covered by the comprehensive QUICK 60+® System Warranty.
