Sustainability - Our Global Care Commitment

Our commitment to environmental sustainability extends well beyond the bulb. Environmental stewardship is a fundamental part of our business ethic. We increasingly use few natural resources, save energy in our manufacturing, reduce power plant emissions, and recycle lamps and other materials to ultimately avoid adding millions of points of waste each year to landfills. And our commitment extends to our customers, as well by helping them save energy and reduce their carbon footprints. At OSRAM SYLVANIA, protecting our environment and caring for our communities aren't just the right things to do, they're the only things to do.



Energy consumption for all lighting in the United States is estimated to be about 22% of the total electricity generated in the U.S. and 1/5th of the national electrical consumption.

The Global Care components include, one, a global corporate responsibility strategy, two, tracking and monitoring of financial as well as environmental impacts of our business activities using performance indicators, and three, internal and external communication and marketing activities to support our environmental and social actions.
