OSRAM SYLVANIA Introduces Next Generation of Directional LED Modules and Light Engines
LED Modules Offer OEMs Improved Price, Performance, Color Consistency and Wide Flexibility.

Philadelphia and Danvers, Mass. – North American lighting leader OSRAM SYLVANIA is launching PrevaLED® Core Spot LED Light Engines, PrevaLED Cube Downlight Modules and the next generation of the OSRAM DLM1100 Directional Light Modules and OSRAM DL1100 Directional Light Engines. These new light engines and modules and other innovative lighting technologies from OSRAM SYLVANIA will be shown at Booth #1001 at LIGHTFAIR® International 2013, the world’s largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show and conference.

For lighting designers and fixture manufacturers, the new light engines and modules offer the ability to tune light output to create unique luminaires using custom optics and meet required illumination and power performance. The solutions are pre-compensated for drive current operating range allowing the products to be adjusted for more light or higher efficacy without negatively impacting the color quality. With these new light engines and modules, OEMs can create fixtures that meet a large range of market needs in a wide portfolio at a range of price and performance. Architects, engineers and building designers focused on green building, energy code compliance, and minimizing lighting power density in general can benefit from the products’ adjustability/tunability to achieve required lighting levels at the lowest power consumption.

All of the new light engines and modules offer a color rendering index (CRI) of over 80 and long life of up to 50,000 hours (L70) at suggested maximum operated temperate limits, minimizing maintenance frequency.  The products are optimally paired with OPTOTRONIC® Constant Current, Class 2 power supplies, including the new OPTOTRONIC 40W Programmable Constant Current LED Power Supply. This unique solution offers architectural grade dimming to an ultra-low 1 percent to address even the most demanding solid state lighting applications. The output current is programmable by an OEM across a wide range, simplifying the manufacturing process and allowing performance requirements to be tailored to exceed energy targets for green building projects. The light engines and modules have a 5-year warranty when paired with OPTOTRONIC Constant Current power supplies.

PrevaLED Core Spot LED Light Engines and PrevaLED Cube Downlight Modules
PrevaLED light engines and downlight modules come in three lumen packages (1100, 2000 and 3000) and a wide range of color temperatures (2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K). Both the PrevaLED Cube and PrevaLED Core families use poke-in connectors simplifying wiring and fixture design.

The PrevaLED Core Spot LED Light Engine is for track and spot fixtures with Zhaga Book 3 form factor. Being Zhaga-compliant reduces design-in time for luminaire manufacturers. It is compatible with Zhaga optics, reflectors, heat sinks, accessories and mounting. The PrevaLED Core Spot LED Light Engine is ideal for retail, office and hospitality applications and offers high efficacy up to 116 LPW. The PrevaLED Cube Downlight Module is a low-profile form factor downlight light engine enabling more shallow surface-mount and recessed implementations for downlighting and wall mount fixtures and offers high efficacy up to 106 LPW. Ideal for low bay, recessed downlights, surface mount luminaires and wall pack applications, the modules offer energy savings of 45 to 70 percent over compact fluorescent and easier fixture integration, and are direct physical replacements for similar common form-factor light engines, offering improved performance and immediate integration with existing optics/reflectors/thermal management and existing power supplies.

DLM1100 Directional Light Modules and DL1100 Directional Light Engines
Available in 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and 5000K color temperatures, DLM1100 Directional Light Modules and DL1100 Directional Light Engines are ideal solutions for fixture designers and manufacturers focused on directional, recessed, area and accent lighting. The directional light solutions allow for efficient light transmission with no wasted light. These new lighting solutions provide fixture manufacturers lower costs, improved efficacy from 58 to 82 LPW and 78 to 103 LPW, respectively, and improved color and intensity consistency while using 37 percent less energy and maintaining compatibility with previous technologies. As a light source replacement for previous generation DL1100 and DLM1100 modules in existing fixtures, these running upgrades are alternative constructions and do not impact the fixture’s UL1598 file. The luminaire design can retain the same thermal management and power systems while taking advantage of the improved LED components.

The DLM1100 Directional Light Module is a fully integrated and optimized lighting subsystem which combines the advantages of LED technology (directionality, long life, energy efficiency, and low maintenance) with an innovative optical design providing a controlled light distribution away from the glare zone with no pixelation. The integration and optimization of optical, mechanical and electronic components eliminates the need for additional heat sinking, maximizes efficacy and provides for a compact package that can be used with various mounting techniques in residential and commercial applications such as downlighting, track lighting, wall washing and accent lighting. The DLM1100 is UL8750 Recognized for United States and Canada Class 2 Unit.

The DL1100 Directional Light Engine consists of 40 high-brightness LEDs on a metal core board (MCB). This stand-alone light engine can be designed into a variety of housings in combination with optical components and can be used in a wide spectrum of applications including downlighting, wallwashing, track lighting, area lighting and accent lighting. The high lumen LED package generates up to 2000 lumens of light from a compact source and comes pre-wired with connectors to simplify the mounting process. Conformally coated for use in damp locations, the DL1100 is UL8750 Recognized for United States and Canada Class 2 Unit.
